Naija Travels Part 5: Exploring Apojola Village, Odeda—Where Nigerians Live in Harmony by Oyan Lake

Agenda to Scatta9ja is Dead on Arrival visit Apojola Village in Odeda local Govt Ogun State where Nigerians North & South, East & West live in Harmony on the banks of Oyan Lake

Social media is the bane of modern Nigeria, a den of wicked fake news, Fabu, and dawn-right lies.

On Social media Yorubas & Igbos hate each other with a passion; people of the middle belt hate Hausa & Fulani; people of the south-south can never see eye to eye and agree. Moslems & Christians hate each other without even talking about our Traditional Devotees.

In my short travels through 3 SW states of Nigeria, Lagos, Ogun, & Oyo, I met people from Zamfara, Sokoto, Kwara, Kogi, Abia, Edo, Delta, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun Ondo, Ekiti, and Kano in each of the states, making Yoruba states their state of residence & work, their home.

Many living in these states for 10 to 20 years and more, some born in the SW, speak Yoruba fluently as well as their mother tongue. Many have intermarried, and others marry their own but bring up their children to learn the Yoruba they have not gotten to learn.

In some villages, there are several generations of Fulani living in SW who have made Ogun, Oyo, their permanent home to all intents and purposes; many have become omo oni le.

Whilst most Yoruba youth have abandoned the farms to go to the cities a few remain and are living with Agatu, Igala, Idoma, Igbo, Hausa, Tiv, Fulani, Yoruba, Egun, Hausa, Indoma, Urhobo, Efik, Eshan, etc.

One such village is Apojola in Ogun State, where you will hear different, different languages and most of them speaking Yoruba too, dressed in different dress styles to note their tribes.

These scenes filled me with hope and joy and a greater understanding that the notion that Nigeria will daru & scatter is a false notion that is impractical.

How will all these interwoven tribes separate from each other, where will they begin, and what will happen to thousands of similar villages up and down the country?

This phenomenon of interwoven tribes is often associated with Lagos, Kano, PH, & Abuja; often described falsely as No Man’s land, state capitals, major towns, as well as commercial, manufacturing centers, ports, & transport hubs.

The sooner Nigerians spend more energy on a Betta9ja than a false aspiration to Scatta9ja that will never materialize, the sooner the pace of our development will increase rapidly.

Indigene v. Settler laws must be outlawed & dispensed with as unconstitutional. Wherever you are born, grow up. or is your home & residence for over 3 years should be considered as your home, and you have every right to contest for any post just like any other citizen. That is what our 1999 constitution says.

The rate of Yoruba exodus from their villages and other tribes moving in is massive.

The good thing is they are doing the farming many refuse to do, but I can confirm many Yoruba are farming, having seen firsthand thousands of hectares of working farms owned and farmed by Yoruba, myself included, along with our friends, colleagues, & neighbours from other tribes. The Fulani herders are not stopping us from farming. I de on ground, not on Social Media lol 😂😂😀

A welcoming people working together for the collective good. That is what it means to be a true Nigerian. One9ja for Life, we all want & deserve a Betta9ja What’s your view? Please share, thanks .
